David Eberwein’s Upstander in Deaf Community

David Eberwein is one of most well known person around in Deaf Community; he is very action leader person and will do everything for Deaf Community’s need. He believed that Deaf and Hearing are equal. Also, he not believed whose deaf people have bit lousy of grammar because for example hearing person who is smart person and can’t sign American Sign Language it’s mean that person are low function, it’s same with deaf people who have a skills of ASL and not bad with English’s grammar.

David Eberwein was born in Fresno, California, his parents and sister is deaf too. David Eberwein’s parents’ cares about Deaf community, they like to host picnic and clubs to keep deaf people together. David Eberwein looked up his parents and goes to different deaf camps to meets new friends and learns about leadership from camps. He attended to California School for the Deaf, Fremont when he was fourteen year old and stayed there from freshman through senior years. Right after David graduated from California School for the deaf, Fremont; he went to Gallaudet University and studied in Deaf Education Major. Also, he was involved with different organized action in Gallaudet and graduated there with bachelor’s degree. Then he wants to have master degree, so he decided to go San Francisco State University.

David Eberwein applied to work at CSD as high school teacher, but high school department was full except Early Childhood Education, available for teacher position. So David goes for it, he start to like his job and love it. Later, he transferred to other Curriculum and Media Services Department as Bilingual and Deaf Studies Specialist. He originally wanted become principal for Early Childhood Education but its not available except high school to principal are available, therefore he went for it. He has to go back to college to get PHD degree to keep his job as high school principal.

He thinks CSD is number one deaf school in nation because he did travel around the world and enter different Deaf schools. Most of them, Deaf school, don’t provide some stuff or offer for class like CSD. Also CSD do teach kids to become leader in someway, don’t must became leadership just do something or help deaf community. There so many Deaf people famous or leadership in the Deaf community, most of them are from CSD.

David Eberwein’s vision of deaf community, he want everyone in each of family who have a deaf children, their parents should use American Sign Language (ASL) to their children than leave them alone and don’t know to use ASL. Because in United States each family who have deaf children, about seventy percent don’t use ASL with their own deaf children.

He didn’t think about become a hearing person, because for example, did ever you want to became from white person into to black person, it same with between deaf and hearing. If there is no exist of David Eberwein, it could be whole the deaf community became lazy or start to don’t care about cares of Deaf community. He is the one who make us to cares and proud of deaf community. And we have to stay awake up and ready to face up something happen for Deaf community.

John Locke's an Upstander

John Locke was one of most famous of philosophy during 17th – century. He was enlightenment of the government; State of nature, rights of life, liberty, and property. Also, he wrote a lot of books called; “Two Treaties of Government’’, “Economics writings”, “Letters on Religious Toleration”, “Theological writings”, and “Education Writings”.

John Locke was born on August 29, 1632 in Wrington, Somerset, England. His father had the same name with his son and John’s father was a country lawyer. His parents were Puritans. Right after John Locke’s birth, his family moved to the market town of Pensford and settled there. He attended to Oxford University and studies in modern philosophers major. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1656 and master’s degree in 1658. He got a bachelor of medicine in 1674; he studies medicine during his time at Oxford University. Also, he worked with scientist and thinkers; Robert Boyle, Thomas Willis, Robert Hooke, and Richard Lower.

John Locke believed in Human Nature, Natural Rights, and Separation of Power. So, he started to write a books about his theory of human nature, natural right, and separation of power to make the people to realized that our government system are too tolerance to the innocent people. For example; human nature, to let the people to decide punish not by king with mean tolerance to the people for no reason and be fair for other people. Human state, all people should be equal and independent, and none had a right to harm regular people’s “life, health, liberty, or possessions”. Also, his enlightenment of the government system called separation of powers and John Locke is of the father of Democracy. John Locke believed that revolution is not only a right but get in some situational. John Locke wanted to get away from Monarch and change to clean government system. Also, John Locke’s theory on price was that values and price is a supply and demand. What’s more, he set a develops theory of capitalization with income, loan, and land. Plus balance of trade, money stocks, also, he prepares estimates of the cash for different economic groups like (landholders, laborers, and brokers).

United States of American copied John Locke’s theory with Human Nature, Natural Rights, and Separation of Power (Democracy) for Government. Also, we copied John’s theory of economics with supply and demand, capitalization, and prepared for the economics. Not only has the United stated of American, also have other countries copied John Locke’s theory.

He died in October 28, 1704 due to health and buried in the church yard of the village of High Laver. He never been married to someone else and don’t have any family including children.

If was not for John Locke, our United State of American could be using Monarch system. He is really important person to us and he is an upstander to help government system changed due to John Locke’s theory.
